Trash the Dress Wedding Shoots?
April 15, 2010 | Filed Under Uncategorized | 3 Comments
Portland photographer Aaronstadt Studios Photography sent us over a few pictures from a few Trash the Dress shoots. We were quite impressed with this idea, because, well, the pictures speak for themselves! So as not to steal the thunder, here are Aaronstadt’s comments on these fabulous pictures and the Trash the Dress shoot idea…
“From Here to Eternity”? I don’t think so…we’re talking about that DRESS, not about Burt and Deborah cavorting on that sunny beach (Halona Cove) on the SE shore of Oahu, Hawaii. It’s just NOT going to last forever…(the dress, that is)…
Well, it might survive after it’s been power washed, freeze-dried, shrink wrapped and flat packed, stuffed under a bed, in the attic, in the closet, or shipped away for long storage in a special hermetically sealed vacuum chamber. But seriously, who is going to want to wear it? Even better, create some art (a soaking pool at McMenamin’s Grand Lodge with Carolynn and David)…
…and the Oregon Coast on a “chilly” May day with Michelle and Bryan…

Going Green: What’s the Hype About Digital Photography?
April 8, 2010 | Filed Under Uncategorized | 1 Comment
Many photographers have made the switch to digital photography over the last several years bringing a new trend that has proven advantageous for couples planning a wedding, as well as doing our part to preserve our ever-precious planet. What was so un-green about photography?
One photographer estimated that, over the course of nine years, their team of two photographers has saved the earth from approximately 18,750 rolls of film, 4,687 AA batteries, 1,578 camera batteries, and 4,468 gallons of toxic and corrosive chemicals used to process film.

By cutting down on processing chemicals, using rechargeable batteries, and doing without rolls of film, many of the best photographers have made going green great for our earth, as well as couples concerned with the environment and the product quality from their artistic professionals. The experts all seem to agree that there is virtually no difference when using digital photography instead of traditional methods. Photographers who keep on top of their industry are typically much more concerned with educating themselves and producing a superior product.

Bridal Networks is a big supporter of considering our planet when choosing your photographer, but we also want you to remember the basics: match a photographer’s style to your tastes. While you want to stay within your budget, you don’t want to sacrifice your captured memories for mediocre impressions of your wedding.
Make sure to ask questions during your interview that will give you insight into the photographer’s motivation, product, and equipment. For important and necessary questions, bring our workbook to the interview! Being mindful of the environment is another way to add significance and beauty to your wedding!
